CDE/CDOE RN looking for position
Posted 11/9/2007
A bachelor's degree prepared R.N., with both state CDOE (Certified Diabetes Outpatient Educator) and national CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator) certifications, I am seeking a position to best challenge and utilize my skills and expertise. I have a foundation of more than 16 years of a medical-surgical and oncology nursing background in acute care, that has refined my knowledge, clinical and organizational skills, and my ability to prioritize and problem solve.
I pursued my interest in diabetes, while employed at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston for six years. There I was responsible for patient education: individual and group sessions in the inpatient and outpatient departments, developing and providing CEU programs for health care practitioners (HCPs), and involvement in various studies. I furthered my experience, in a diabetes prevention program that was community based and focused on education and screening programs in inner city Boston schools. I spent nearly two years in sales as a representative for a blood glucose monitor where I excelled, receiving annual bonuses afforded to those who successfully met their quotas. As a program coordinator in an endocrinology practice, I provided direct patient education, revised the education curriculum, developed and updated resource materials, and coordinated with the multidisciplinary team to assist patients in achieving optimal glycemic control. I was involved in the successful application process for ADA site certification.
Most recently, in response to my desire for a challenge, I pursued a position in industry as a clinical consultant for a diabetes related product. This position gave me the opportunity to incorporate my clinical knowledge, as well as my managerial, problem-solving, and communication skills. I provided diabetes and product related education and training to HCPs, patients and 15 sale representatives. I was successful and effective, ranked as one of the highest achievers in the New England territory.
At this time, I am interested in a position that will utilize my diabetes education as well as my intrigue for challenge and creativity. I am an eager, ambitious individual with extensive clinical knowledge searching for an ideal opportunity in industry and/or education.
Resume and References are available upon request.
